Today’s Quick 5 is all about movies only with a slight variation. I want you to share the 5 movies you love that you own. For example, I loved Social Network but I didn’t love it so much that I would buy a copy on DVD. Sometimes I think what we own says more about what we love than what we tell people in social settings.
Here’s 5 movies that I own and love (and that I’m probably too ashamed to admit to at a dinner party):
When Harry Met Sally – My first ever movie love. This movie taught me everything I know about comedy and the joy that is Billy Crystal. I just love how this movie evolves and all the classic lines from it. (I still use a large array of them in my everyday.)
Don’t Tell Mum the Babysitter’s Dead – Another movie from my youth. I love the line in this movie “The dishes are done, man.” I use it all the time and then chuckle to myself. This movie also has one of my all time favourite movie tricks, the transformation sequence. You know where they do a makeover and it’s set to music and portrays the ugly duckling becoming the swan – in this case it’s the kids cleaning up the house.
Steel Magnolias – My love for this film is well documented. I want to move to this town. I want to have a group of girlfriends just like these ladies. I want to be a Southern Belle. It’s also a great movie when I just want to have a cry but don’t feel I’m justified in doing so.
28 Days – Not the zombie apocalyptic film that I suspect my HUBBY wishes it was, but the romantic comedy with a hard edge. Well as hard an edge as you’re gonna find in a romantic comedy. There’s just so many great supporting characters in this movie and I love the tension between Bullock and Mortensen. I also love that one of the characters is called Jasper.
Sweet Home Alabama – Think this one ties in to my love of Southern ladies. I’m also a sucker for Reese Witherspoon. The chemistry in this film is great and again it’s got the support cast that also makes it fun.
