This year marks 10 years since I started blogging. (That anniversary was July 24 but I missed marking the occasion as I was a little preoccupied…) I started blogging on LIveJournal and I still hold an account over there however on the 13th of September 2008 I made the move to be a self hosted blog with my own domain. Which means that today is the 4th birthday for GnomeAngel.com

I made the decision to become self hosted for a number of reasons; none of which I could really elaborate on now. (Time has a way of washing away the nonsense.) It’s a decision I’ve never regretted. Over the years I’ve had big ideas for this space and even bigger dreams.

I dreamed I would take the internet by storm and be the next Dooce! (Didn’t we all!) While that dream hasn’t eventuated the dream of having my own little piece of internet real estate has continued to bring me joy and seen a vast array of interesting and exciting people come into my life. I’ve had my ups and downs like all things in life, but on the whole it’s been such a positive experience.

When I think about all the milestones, achievements, nutty ideas and half baked projects I’ve blogged about it makes me smile and that’s a good thing.

As I look forward I can’t imagine my life without this little hobby. I hope one day Sam will be able to look through this blog and read about his life and see his parents as more then just parents, to be able to get a taste of what our lives have been like.

Admittedly this space isn’t a complete snapshot of my life but it’s certainly holds a unique view of it. It’s hard in some ways to explain just how much this blog means to me. Sometimes I think it has been the only thing to keep me sane and then other times I think it’s contributed to my insanity. All I know is that it’s been a great 4 years. It’s been a fast and furious 4 years. I can’t wait to see what adventures the coming years will hold, but bring it on I say. Bring it on.
