I’ve been doing some more work on my Hexy MF quilt and it’s really starting to get some momentum. I’m just over half way through the stack of flowers.
It’s great seeing the pile of prepared hexies dwindle. Every time I finish one I declare it my new favourite.
It’s funny seeing the fabrics that are in the pile compared to the fabrics that I work with now. When I made these hexies it was at the start of my fabric purchasing and my stash was a hodge podge of fabrics from bag making and softies projects.
Some of the fabrics I still really love, but others are making me slightly cringe. But it’s all fabulous because it’s my stitching history. It’s not the quilt I’d make today, but that’s the wonderful thing about quilting – it’s like a time capsule.
I’m looking forward to being able to look back and see how I’ve grown and changed over the years.
I had a moment of empty design wall so I decided to put the hexies that I’ve completed up and look at them all together.
It’s an interesting mix… some of them stand out like the proverbial and then others kind of disappear. I think it’s going to be an interesting exercise to make all these flowers work together, but I’m up for the challenge.
