Thanks Linda :)

I really love the way the B Blocks turned out as well - I just couldn't make up my mind on which way to go so I used both and I'm happy with how it's turned out!

I can't wait to see yours!!! (No pressure!)

I've gone with an all over design - I didn't write the name of it down unfortunately. I'll get it off the quilter when I got and pick it up and then share it here. :)

Love your finished quilt! The black/orange/hot pink combo for BlockB works so well. You have inspired me to get moving with mine. Well done! What sort of quilting design have you chosen?

LOVE IT!

And this bit " It’s funny how items can take on this sort of mythical quality to them. That they can come to contain our hopes and dreams."

So true. So, so true.

I'm looking forward to vomiting with you in August!

Just re-read my post with its typos(thanks, predictive texting!)
Should read "After the WAR", and " all the jam JARS with a tablespoon of jam in them"!
Also, if you are making pastry do make the trimmings into little jam tarts which your little boy will love to eat.

Have a look at the most marvellous and inspiring blog by British girl Jack Munro. Her blog is called a girl called Jack. She is a single Mum with a gorgeous 3 year old boy. Jack lost her job, had to survive on benefits, had a garage sale to raise money etc etc. she makes the most amazing meals for pennies, there are loads of very tasty recipes on her blog including one for a delicious carot & coriander soup which I make regularly. Also bread recipes(quick , easy & different), main meals, puds etc. all made for pennies.
Do check it out! Inspiring! Let me know what you think.
My own tip is to buy for only a few days at a time, working out exactly which meals you will be catering for etc. then use up any leftovers straight away. For instance: a pasta dish for supper on Monday, any leftovers eat cold with a little salad for lunch on Tuesday. If you don't eat it on Tuesday you'll find you throw it away!
Be inventive with what you have in the fridge. You will always be able to make a meal(soup, a stir fry, a casserole or pasta dish) with what you have. My neighbour calls it 'fridge bottoming)
After the Ar when we were still on rationing in England my Mum used to make my favourite pudding. She found all the jam hats with a tablespoonful of jam left in the bottom and put them in dollops onto a pastry tart base. The resulting rainbow tart was super!
Happy inventing! Linda, one of your Swap bot partners.

Yes you can freeze milk but make sure it thawed in time so you can shake it and remix. It does separate a little so you can get a thin watery milk at first if it's not all thawed. I used to do this as we have 4 kids.
I also try to do all my errands on one day to save petrol, not always possible depending on the age of your kids, but perhaps spread over 2 days rather than being out each day.
I shop online a bit and if your order is over a certain amount often delivery is free, saving me a few hours of shopping and it's carried into my kitchen for me. I save these larger online shops for when I need to replace lots of pantry staples.
Will be checking back with interest to see what others recommend.
