This weekend I’ve been in a real funk.  I think it’s the fact that both of us have colds, the weather is unbearably wintery and I’ve just got a mood on.  In an attempt to get some happy back into the house I’ve decided to do some baking.  The only problem; deciding what to bake!

So I went online and looked for inspiration.  I found myself attracted to all the black and white goodness that’s out there.  I thought I’d share with you some of my favourites.

Black & White Baking Inspiration

Left to Right, Top to Bottom:

Easy Ice-Cream Cake – IT’S A CAKE MADE OF ICE-CREAM! Enough said.  Well actually I think I could go on and on about how made of awesome this is.  I’m going to store this recipe for our first summer BBQ.

Guinness Cake – I’m so intrigued with the idea of making a cake using Guinness.  I can’t say I’m a big drinker (in fact I haven’t had an alcoholic beverage in YEARS!) but this makes me want to pop a tin and try it out in cake form.

Individual Chocolate Mud Cakes – This recipe comes from one of my favourite food blogs; What Katie Ate.  The cake recipe is actually one from Donna Hay combined with Katie’s own ganache recipe.  I just love the idea of getting a whole cake all to one’s self.  Decadence thy name is cake!

Cookies and Cream Cupcakes – We’re big fans of the Oreo in our house.  It’s probably one of the only American confections that we enjoy.  These cupcakes look so delightfully yummy and seem to be so easy to make. I imagine these would be a big hit in our house! (Image source: Keeping Up With the Kunz’s)

I made the Oreo Cupcakes and they were so yummy, but very very rich. Highly recommend them!
